About
Shoma is a multidisciplinary designer with a background in creative writing and architecture, and a passion for visual storytelling. With roots in South Asia and raised in Appalachia, her cross-cultural upbringing has deeply shaped her curiosity about place, identity, and design.
Holding a BA in English and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, she brings a narrative-driven approach to creating purposeful, immersive spaces. Her architectural experience spans commercial, residential, and retail projects, with an emphasis on creating settings that feel intentional, connected, and rooted in their context. After relocating to the West Coast, she transitioned to the client side, where she now focuses on branded, user-centered spaces. She has since led the design and development of environments for retail and healthcare brands that resonate with users through thoughtful experience-driven design.
Her design process is hands-on and user-focused, with a strong attention to detail. She's passionate about crafting spaces that feel meaningful, grounded, and balanced—where form, function, and aesthetics all come together with care.
Outside of architecture, Shoma is the founder and creative director of Tola Jewelry, a fine jewelry brand that explores and celebrates the interplay of tradition and modernity through handcrafted design.
She is a licensed architect in New York State, LEED-certified, and currently splits her time between Seattle and the San Francisco Bay Area.
